A New York court has ruled that Prince should pay almost $4 million to Revelations Perfume and Cosmetics Inc. that claimed he hindered marketing efforts for the perfume named after his “3121” album, according to the Associated Press.

A special court referee in Manhattan recommended a roughly $3.95 million award last week. However, the award would have to be confirmed by another judge, said AP. The singer, whose full name is Prince Rogers Nelson, will reportedly fight to keep the suggested award from being confirmed.

According to Revelations Perfume and Cosmetics Inc., in 2006 the company licensed Prince’s name and likeness and the album title 3121 to market its fragrance. Revelations said the musician did not help promote the scent as promised after its July 2007 launch.
